Iconic wallpainting
Free interpretating old Eastern orthodox icons
Free interpretating old Eastern orthodox icons
For this wallpainting I was inspired by the very old traditional religious icons from Russia and Greek. Although this painting is not for a catholic, but for a protestant church, I was free to use old classic elements from this rich visual Christian tradition. Me, personal, was always fascinated by those Eastern orthodox icons; plattered with gold, full with details, mysterious faces and strange perspectives.
This wall is based on a verse from Psalm 83:
"Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house, ever singing your praise!"
